The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce
is dedicated to the development of new jobs and opportunities, the
increased promotion of current businesses, encouraging the community to shop
locally and promoting Geneva as a visitor destination. They offer
businesses, merchants,
and individuals a variety of programs and services to increase their
marketing opportunities and ability to attract new clients.
The visitor information center is open year round to provide visitors with a knowledgeable resource to Geneva and the surrounding area. The center is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The center is also open 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.
To attract visitors to the area, the Chamber publishes and distributes a brochure and Visitor's Guide , maintains an Internet site, does extensive advertising, and is involved in a number of cooperative programs. The Chamber also staffs the Geneva Tourism Roundtable, a group dedicated to discovering partnerships and cooperative programs to bring visitors to Geneva and to serve them when they are here. The Ontario County Tourism Bureau works with the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce to ensure visitor satisfaction. It maintains an Internet site and a toll-free number to respond to inquiries. The Bureau coordinates the publication of the Ontario County Travel Guide and the Ontario County Special Events Calendar, and has produced specialty market publications for agritourism and canal tourism.
The Bureau promotes tourism awareness by producing a quarterly newsletter, providing educational seminars, and maintaining a database of tourism contacts. It also participates in a number of area committees and engages in various research and development activities.
The Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance is the oldest regional tourist promotion association in the United States and has grown to be the largest tourism membership organization in New York State by involving a broad base of support from all sectors of the business community. The current membership of over 2,200 is comprised of commercial members; sustaining, professional, & associate members; counties, communities, & chamber of commerce members; and individual and family members. Benefits include member listing in the annual Finger Lakes Travel Guide (with a circulation of approximately 62,000) and a monthly newsletter and events calendar.
