GENEVA, N.Y.—The
Geneva Fire Department will host its annual training seminar on
Sat., Feb. 13, 2010, at the Smith Opera House. Robert Pressler, a
retired lieutenant from the Fire Department of New York, will be the
instructor.
Pressler's topic, "Suburban Firefighting," teaches firefighting
strategies and tactics for the everyday small town fire department.
Based on the response of two engine companies and one ladder company
staffed with a limited number of firefighters, fires in homes,
stores, garden apartments, and townhouses will be addressed.
The annual training seminar, which is part of the New York State
Association of Fire Chiefs mini-seminar program, routinely draws
more than 500 firefighters from across central and western New York.
The cost of the training is $15 per person. Preregistration is
requested by Feb. 6. Checks made out to Geneva Firematics Committee
