The Historic District and Structures Commission consists of seven members whose residences are located in the City of Geneva. They are appointed by the City Council of the City of Geneva for terms of office of three years.
The Commission's purpose is to safeguard the heritage of the City of Geneva by preserving districts, buildings and structures in theCity which reflect elements of its cultural, social, economic, political and architectural heritage; stabilize and improve property values; foster civic pride; strengthen the local economy and promote the use of historic districts, buildings and structures for the education, pleasure and welfare of the citizens of the City of Geneva.
