The Buildings & Parks Division is responsible for the day to day maintenance of all City owned parks, cemeteries and the entire lakefront including grass cutting and snow removal. This includes installation of new playground equipment as well as the maintenance of existing equipment. We also maintain the following facilities City Hall, the Public Safety Building, the Civic Center, the Fire Station, the multi-purpose building at the lakefront, the public restroom facility, the Geneva Transportation Center (which is owned by the IDA) and the buildings at McDonough Park. We are also responsible for securing and maintaining (grass cutting and snow removal included) all properties acquired due to back taxes and abandoned buildings. We continue with enforcement mowing throughout the City. With the re-organization of the DPW, we now have 7 full time employees reporting to this division. Currently, we are employing 3 full time and 1 part time seasonal employees. Our part time employee works to maintain the area around the Chamber Building and along the lakefront. The three full time seasonal employees are assisting our permanent employees with grounds maintenance.
