The Water Maintenance Division is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the entire water
distribution system; installation of new water mains and appurtenances;
supervision and inspection of capital improvement projects; installation and
replacement of water meters; response to service calls/customer complaints;
and location of our utilities for UFPO. The Division is responsible
for reading all water meters in the system every quarter, notification and
shut off of delinquent water accounts maintenance of water system
maps/records, enforcement of a cross-connection program per NYS Department
of Health. We also assist other divisions as needed. This
Division is on call 24 hours per day, 365 days per year to handle all
emergency calls. It operates with 6 full-time employees.
2008 Accomplishments

Worked on several capital road projects: Washington Street - Phase
2, Jefferson Avenue, West Street, and completion of Route 14 north.

Completed planning for the city Water Meter Replacement Program;

Completed city wide fire hydrant flushing program.
2009 Priorities
- Supervision and inspection of several capital projects: Lewis
Street, Norwood Street, Sharon Street, and Cross Street.

Implement the city Water Meter Replacement Program.

Continue to make improvements to the water distribution system to
provide all city water users with an adequate, safe and continuous
supply of water.

Check for leaks due to a high water bill. Someone must be present at
the time of the appointment.

If you will be selling your home, a final water meter reading will
be needed. Someone must be present at the time of the appointment.

Customers who wish to start, stop, or transfer water service.
