Financial Department Services
The Finance Department controls the financial administration of a $23.9
million dollar budget. The current staff of four full-time and one part-time
employees processes all taxes, collection of delinquent City and School
taxes, water bills and BID assessments. All payroll and accounts payable for
the City are processed through this office. This office also coordinates all
required audits and is responsible for all federal and state reporting
requirements. The Comptroller's office will continue to provide efficient
customer service to the citizens of Geneva.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
January - City/County Tax Bill - 1st installment due by 1/31
February - School Tax Bill - 2nd installment due by 2/28
May - City/County Tax Bill - 2nd installment due by 5/31
September - School Tax Bill - 1st installment due by 9/30
Current Tax bills are paid at First Niagara Bank, 470 Exchange St., Geneva.
After June 1, 2009, City and County taxes are paid at the City Comptroller's
Office.
After February 28, 2009, school taxes are paid at the City Comptroller's
Office.
PENALTIES ON OVERDUE TAXES
City and County tax bills paid after the due date accrue penalty of 1% per
month.
School taxes paid after the due date accrue penalty of 1% per
month.
School taxes paid after February 28th have an additional 5% added to the
installment and penalty.
WATER BILLS ISSUED
January 1st
April 1st
July 1st
October 1st
Water bill are due within 30 days of issue
Water bills paid after the due date accrue a penalty at 1% per month.
If water service has been discontinued due to non-payment of a bill, the
full amount of the bill, any penalties and a $50 reconnection fee must be
paid before service will be reinstated. For questions regarding your
water bill, please contact the City Comptroller's Office.
